A Time - Scale Decomposition Approach toMeasurement - Based Admission

چکیده
We propose a timescale decomposition approach to measurement-based admission control (MBAC). We identify a critical timescale f T h such that: 1) aggregate traac uctuation slower than f T h can be tracked by the admission controller and compensated for by ow admissions and departures; 2) uctuations faster than f T h have to be absorbed by reserving spare bandwidth on the link. The critical timescale is shown to scale as T h = p n, where T h is the average ow duration and n is the size of the link in terms of number of ows it can carry. A MBAC design is presented which lters aggregate measurements into low and high frequency components separated at the cutoo frequency 1= f T h , using the low frequency component to track slow timescale traac uctuations and the high frequency component to estimate the spare bandwidth needed. Our analysis shows that the scheme achieves high utilization and is robust to traac heterogeneity, multiple timescale uctuations and measurement errors. The scheme uses only measurements of aggregate bandwidth and does not need to keep track of per-ow information.

متن کاملA Hybrid Solution Approach Based on Benders Decomposition and Meta-Heuristics to Solve Supply Chain Network Design Problem
Supply Chain Network Design (SCND) is a strategic supply chain management problem that determines its configuration. This mainly focuses on the facilities location, capacity sizing, technology selection, supplier selection, transportation, allocation of production and distribution facilities to the market, and so on. Although the optimal solution of the SCND problem leads to a significant reduc...
متن کاملScenario-based modeling for multiple allocation hub location problem under disruption risk: multiple cuts Benders decomposition approach
The hub location problem arises in a variety of domains such as transportation and telecommunication systems. In many real-world situations, hub facilities are subject to disruption. This paper deals with the multiple allocation hub location problem in the presence of facilities failure. To model the problem, a two-stage stochastic formulation is developed. In the proposed model, the number of ...
متن کاملAdmission Control for Integrated Services: Time-scale Decomposition and Insensitivity
Using time-scale decomposition, we develop approximations to evaluate the performance of an admission control strategy for integrated services in a single UMTS radio cell. Simulation results suggest that the performance is almost insensitive to traffic parameter distributions, and is well estimated by our proposed approximations.
متن کاملArea Energy and Throughput Targeting in Debottlenecking of Heat Exchanger Networks with Decomposition Approach
For energy saving retrofit projects, its economics are usually evaluated in terms of capital investment and payback time. The capital investment is in direct relation to the total heat recovery area of the network and the payback time factor is base on both the area and the energy savings. The debottlenecking is an increased throughput, which can be profitable in economic sense. The combination...
